VOLUNTEERING AT THE BSM

The backbone of the Baltimore Streetcar Museum remains its volunteer base.  The museum is an all-volunteer organization that depends on the enthusiasm and dedication of our members to operate, expand, and carry out our mission.  (Please note: One must be a museum member to volunteer).

Following are just some of the areas where museum members can consider volunteering their time and talents:

·      Museum Shop (draftsmen, machinists, welders, electricians)

·      Restoration (carpenters, painters, designers, photographers)

·      Grounds (landscaping, lawn mowing)

·      Visitors’ Center (tours, cashier duties)

·      Transportation (streetcar operation and dispatching)

While some of these positions require formal museum training (Transportation duties, for example) and/or past experience, all volunteer interest is heartily welcomed.  The museum looks forward to your inquiries and participation!

BECOME A MEMBER

As a member of the Baltimore Streetcar Museum, you’ll enjoy unlimited streetcar rides and free admission to the museum during normal operating hours (excluding certain special events).  You’ll also receive a subscription to the BSM’s newsletter The Live Wire, a discount in the museum store, and notices of members-only activities as well as museum special events.

Another benefit of membership: Many streetcar and railroad museums across the country (and internationally) provide complementary rides and/or admission to BSM members, due to a reciprocal policy with the BSM.
